i have a re issue.none of the schematics i could find match they all have 33k or 39k(off the top of my head) resitors before the input cap mine has no resistor.i just want better bass response so i lower the input cap value right?what difference does the resistor make?

bigger cap = mo bass;

input R forms a lopass filter with the parasitary input-capacitance
to reduce the chance of radio-reception;

The input resistor also keeps your input signal from directly overloading the first transistor.  This is one thing that gives the BMP such a smooth, even distortion all the way through the attack/decay envelope.  If you take that resistor away, you'll get a little bit of a touch-sensitive distortion tone going on, with the string attack aggressively overloading the first transistor, which is not ideally what the Big Muff is about.  It's supposed to be a constant wall of creamy sound.

If you want a huge bass response in your output signal, replace the output capacitor with a 10uf tantalum; the rest of the caps are ok at 0.1uf.

my input cap is a electrolytic 22uf!?!?!?any thoughts on that?
i have been irritated with the way this big muff reacts to solid attacks though and was hoping the missing resistor would help

The schems I've seen show a 1uF, don't know if 22uF would be good or bad though. Might not hurt to try 1uF though.

i had only half assedly looked at that big muff before now im pretty sure that 22uf is on the ground just  from the input i can find no schematics for the reissue eh russian big muff this 22uf is in none of the schematics ive looked at not that it matters to me now.the input cap which i believe is .1uf does not apear to be polarized .in all the schems it is.
i guess what im saying is that there are some key differences between my pedal and the schems i can find and im not competent enough to work without a proper schem.
does anyone know where to find a schem for the russian reissue e/h big muff pi.
some interesting mods would be nice as well.

the black sovtec BMP's sound alot better when true-bypassed.. i have messed around with a couple.

socketing the clipping diodes makes it easy to expeirment with the fuzz a little.. i think i ended  up with red LED's and GE diodes mixed up in there..

then altering the tonestack caps can make them sound a little more like the USA ones IMO.. i've owned alot of BMP's.. i dont play one in my line, but i just like to have em laying around.. but the black sovtec ones are alot smoother sounding, almost a synthy type tone at times.. the USA ones are fuzzier.

i kept notes on how to true bypass the sovtec ones.. lemme know if you need help w/ the wiring..

best luck,
be well,
