has anyone seen this sort of cable before?

i got it for some mics (which you can see one of the ends off on the pic.)

they are set up like XLR cables, but i'd like to find more of the old original/re-pro ones.
any ideas?

Johan

I think you can get those from Beyer Dynamic.  I know they used them many years ago and they usualy keep spareparts for everything they ever made...

Hi,
These connectors are called "Tuchel-Stecker" and have been use by all German Microfone Manufactors until the 70ies.
Today it is hard to find these (now very expensive) connectors, even in Germany.
For other countries it is worth a try to ask the german manufactors like Beyer, AKG, Sennheiser or Neumann

cheers
Günther

thanks a lot Gunther!

great first post IMO.

I actually ran into an AKG190 with that connection yesterday.
I believe wide-base 3-prong DIN connectors will fit this exactly. You should be able to find some, maybe even in "regular" stores. I think my supplier has a box of them.

please find out for me. :)

i'm really looking for the real OLD connectors (tuchel-steckers).
but i'll surely try out to see if the DIN's will connect too.

thanks so far!

DIN won't work, not even the larger ones. I now have a chassis-mount 3-prong female tuchel connector here, and there are a few male plugs at the shop. Anything for you?
Drop me a PM so it doesn't drown in the masses ;)
