hey y'all. this is not my ad or anything, but i'm curious to see what the experts think of this: http://www.craigslist.org/eby/msg/32134766.html

dude wants $250 obo for:

"Analog synth project. Based on plans from early electro notes news letters. I have documentation. Tons of parts, 4 modules completed. Wood case, 3 power supplies, lots and lots of IC's pertaining to the early analog synth designs, few custom chips, connectors, caps, caps, caps...etc."

obviously there's not a whole lot of info to go on, but what do you think? is anyone here interested in picking it up? if not, should i get it?

open to all your thoughts.

cheers,
ian

Knowing what I know about Electronotes, chances are extremely good there are some absolutely delicious chips in there that, just as chips, can easily fetch $50 each on the open market if you lost interest.  The modules themselves may well be killer, or easily modded to be so.  If you can score the newsletters to go along with it, you'll be richer for it.  This will be like getting a correspondence school EE degree for $250 (and I meant that in a good way).  The person who built them will also likely be an extremely good contact to have for the future. - anyone who subscribed to E-notes from that period could easily become your guardian angel.

i still haven't called the guy, so i'm still open to other opinions.... :)

Can't beat Mark's advice.

If you're interested in ever dabbling in the synth diy world, it seems well worth it to me. If you're not sure, maybe you can get the price down a little. I'd jump on it, if I had the money to spare.
