Capacitor marking diagnosis

Hi Y'all,
Is there a link to capacitor marking decriptions or designations? I have several junkbox Caps I cant figure out. When i bought some greenie .047uF caps, they are marked "473k". Do you take only the first two digits and divide by 1000?

They are in pico farads.  Add the zeros to the back
47000 pF which is .047 uF.  "k" is +/- 10% tolerance.

BTW This may be obvious, but to convert pico to micro just move the decimal point six places to the left.


47000. -> .047000

nano's in between (3 places) 47000. -> 47.000

It's too bad a DMM doesn't measure capacitance like it does resistance!
