Hi evryone,
I bought a handful of used and NOS semiconductors. including transistors, voltage regulators, opamps, etc.
Among them were some 555, which I know are "timers". Well I guess I cant make a delay or chorus pedal based around an 8- pin dip (or can I?)
so Im wondering what can I build with them. Any ideas? Thanx in advance.
May the yoghurt be with you.

Post #'s of all of them. Then only i can tell you.

The 555 is a chip that you can use in a whole bunch of ways including making oscillators. It's called a timer because it deals with time constants of using a resistor to charge a cap and using another resistor to discharge that cap. If you use tiny caps they can be audio oscillators, change that to a big cap and you can now use them for LFOs if you add a JFET to the circuit. They come in different technologies and I think there have been bipolar, NMOS, and CMOS versions produced. It has been cloned by over 30 makers too :D. Chances are you can use 555s for something, although some circuits require the use of a CMOS version like the 7555.

If you have any questions about what you have, you can post all the codes on the parts we can decypher them for you and return a list of the part numbers. Sometimes there's only space for part of the number on the actual part just to make things more fun. :D

Take care,
