is there a way to run a guitar amp directly into a board?

Even as incredibly simple it would be to make your own DI box, it sure is hard to beat that price of $30, especially with a built-in cab simulator.

If your goal is to record directly so that you can skip mic'ing your amp, then POD is probably the way to go. However, buying a POD is not cheap. I have an older POD and it's good for such purposes, so I can record while I'm doing laundry right next to my computer. I've also used my POD as a DI box. Sorta. When you turn on the chromaticn tuner on a POD, it cuts your signal out. Many tuners do this. However, if you have the floor board (which has a volume pedal) connected, it feeds a clean, unchanged signal through. I have used this as a perfectly, unchanged preamp for recording before. It's the only way that I've found that gives "undefiled" clean sound.
