has anyone got one of these? how does it compare with the classic crybaby?

i got the schematic from the morely site and was wondering whether is was worth the effort making a pcb and stuff or just sticking with the classics.

thanks

Pretty bad horse, I believe, after reading reviews at HC. I never tried one.

ANyway that band's done I hear  8) , the guitar sound I thought was PDCool, and this pedal could help you to strike some pompous looking macho poses, as it is at least an inch taller than a CB Wah.
If you believe a pedal can define the sound of a band, [most people probably only remember the singer's name Scott Stapp [Arizona].
 Enought with the 'Crud' puns...lol!
To soune like    "Creed', or at least the distorted/wah guitar sounds on the records, this would probably be a good one to have around.

well, there's over 100 opinions right there.... at least, if you build one, it is sure to be PHYSICALLY better!

Check Ansil's site. I believe he has one and modded it.

I have one.  I have extensively modded it.  The fundamental difference between the crybaby and the bad horsie is the pedal travel.  The place in the pedal that the bad horsie breaks the "wah" sound I find to be easier to use and voice to my style than the crybaby (IMHO).  Otherwise, the only major difference is the transistors.  The bad horsie uses lower gain 2N3904.  The crybaby has a little more "bite" from the higher gain transistors.  They are equivalent to 2N5089.  I think they are MPSA18? MPSA10?  I know the input buffer is a darlington and the other two are a 5089 equivalent.

Either way, it is particularly easy to add and envelope follower and make a bad horsie envelope filter option on a switch(that's one of the mods I did to mine).  There's lots of room inside to add extra circuit boards, pots, LEDs, and switches.  You can even add a latching relay circuit to make it true bypass if you like.

The one guy at HC was saying there's a dual wah, both independantly optically controlled...pretty cool.
Many good and many bad reviews.
Could be it's sensative [aren't they all?] to what comes before and what comes next.
I'm guessing inductor style, transistors/analog, seems like something worth messing with, after all Vai likes it...having room in the case is nice :D .
I get the idea they're built like tanks...sure looks like one/
Those HC reviews need 'sifted'...I can see where it would be easy to take your new BH wah home, plug in your one Fuzz boxx, get nasty stuff comin' out...I tend to lend a little more 'heedance' to the reviewers that list the cool amps and guitar as test units.

Hey! How's Vai get that sound on "Kill The Guy With The Ball". Sounds like a wah-Wah and a vocorder having sex while being crushed by a garbage truck!

I don't know much about crybabys but I have modded a bad horsie and they do appear to be pretty cool.  the frequency difference between pedal down and pedal up seems a little tame to me with the stock values but if you increase the resistor in parrallel with the inductor it sounds a lot more like a crybaby to me.  The main difference to me is that there is no pot connected to the pedal, its all done with ldrs and leds, and its switchless.  seems like it would be a lot more reliable seeing that there are no mechanical electrical components and pots to get dirty.
