Does anyone know a pedal that can produce a distortion similar to that used by type o negative? I know they use peavey amps and im sure that has something to do with it aswell. But if anyone can recomend something or if anyone knwos what they use. i want to build one for my friend for his birthday.

i have the following distortions and none of them really do it: boss hyper metal, digitech metal master, boss overdrive, a home made muff pie (tweaked a little), home made guv'nor, and a home made whisker biscuit (very similar to muff but a little more buzzy). so you can rule those out of the suggestions.

THANKS!

You're already tuning to B, Right? When you're tuned that low, Peavey amp distortion will probably do it.

Drop B?   If you're doing that you should just get a 7-string.... I donno but whenever I try going below D it just feels like crap with the strings being so loose and everything...
I don't like Holland. Nobody has the transistors I want.

Ben:

You just use great big strings.

BIg strings and maybe raise the  action on the loose one...

My suggestion is to give a Whisker Biscuit to him. I built one and trade it for a Ibanez Fuzz, but loved the sound of it. I need to build another one.

dropb is a fun tuning.  i use 63's   for that one.
