I have had this pedal built for a week and the tone was quite pleasing. But I have been holding out on casing it because I wanted  to try the j-fet in q1. Having recieved my order from Smallbear I couldnt  wait quite to try the j-201 in the first pos. True to form the tone got quite aggressive in a good way. After about an half an hour my strat was screaming thank you mam thank you kindly. I would like to have both mpf 102 and j-201 as switchable . I think this would be no problem,Build two separate front ends and running them into an 4066 [set up as an dpdt. By the way this 4066 is quite a useful circuit. In its stock form you can use it in so many variations, true bypass /dual loop box/ or in this case / as a toggle between the 102 and 201. You would have the brightness of the 102 or kick it in to superoverdrive. One of the extras that I have noticed after putting in the 201 is somewhat of a Niel young fuzzy crunch. Provided that I come up with a suitable octave pedal. I am sort of going after that  "WELD" tone if anybody here is a niel young fan. Anyway good job runoffgroove.

Weld, Great tone Donald, so the Professor turn's another head, LOL !, it's my Fav, and if you want a lil more, put the Fetzer in front of it, then ya get Neil on Sterroids, they really work good together. I can't wait to get my Big pedal built so I can have all of the choice's at hand but I'm waiting on parts to come in so I'm at a standstill for now.

I have them both built on the same board, as of yet I havent included the 4066 yet as I have been conserving the little board space left for any possible mods. I have a question, Both circuits work, The but part for the fetzer valve is I was curious as to how it would drive an tsf type [4049] using an uncased 3 legged dog w/o the input mpf 102 as the test, I was thinking this would make an awesome combination, keep in mind both circuits work perfectly but when I chained the fetzer into the 3 legged dog[ almost no sound. It was like one was choking the other. I used choking [lacking the electronic terminology to describe what was happening. But right off the top of my head I was thinking this may be a classic example of missmatched imp.[yes no maybe ] or one out of phase with the other . What would you think the problem is. As the one willnot drive the other. But they both work fine as separate units. This may even be a clue as to why certain stompboxes work well together or not. This would even be a good reason to use parralell effects chains to minimize the distance between point a and point b and maintaining the desired tone.  O T  where at in texas are you? My sister and sister in law live in Austin and tyler/ while I have cousins and uncles in corpus christie. I knew there had to be other Niel young fans I got hooked on the rust never sleeps double album[wore that out] but to me WELD nails the essential young tone, the first four cuts are worth the buy.I used to put the cd on  and play along with and I almost got it down note for note. I will have to get it out again. Keep us informed on your work  in progress, as I am sure it will be informative.

What incarnation of 4066 switching are you using? Could you draw a schem[point to the one]?

I've got a "few" projects ready for boxing, and dpdt switches ain't growing on trees around here

TIA.
Cut it large, and smash it into place with a hammer.

Donald, these are the only thing's that could be going wrong, you may need a input buffer, you know how some pedals don't like a unbuffered wha, or it's like you said, out a phase, you could try adding 1 more stage to your fetzer by adding a low gain fet in the Q1 position first and then try it in Q2,I would try like the MPF 102 or a 2n5457, that might get you going, might not, maybe Mr. B or gary may jump in here and help us out.
I live 30 miles so. of San Antonio, at Natalia Tx. Bluebonnet Capitol of Tejas, LOL ! nice quite place, good place for raising a Family, I've lived here scince 1979 and love it, it's home !
I own all of Neils Album's, big fan of his, I'm part Native Indian so his Music has that sorta Flare for me, I've seen him live 5 time's, first time was with Buffalo Springfield, and The Livin End is one of my Fav's.

The pattern I am using for the dpdt is taken directly from the tone gods site. Go there and he has several options . I  got an data sheet for the 4066 ,studyed the pin out . There are actually at least two ways to do it. One may be easier to perf.board[making it easier] to wire on your perf board. I have something drawn up that would take all the guess work out of it. If my old computer will still let me post some pictures. You need #1 4066 #2 14049 #3 anspdt or mom. switch and of course an red and green led. This combination gives you an dpdt and two indicator lights for channel indication purposes. Its a cool circuit that works well. Thanks to tonegod and RG. I am learning how to use these chips Be back soon hopefully with a picture.....I am not going to worry about the that problem JD as I will probably just use it as an building block.
