Can this be done, I have (1) Nuemann U87 mic, (1) AKG C-451 and only (1) Avalon VT-737SP preamp. I want to be able to switch mics at will to go into the Avalon.

What I need to build or have built is a 2 into 1 switcher but that passes or has phantom power. Only thing close I have found is a pro-co panic button, but I believe phatom power wont be passed with this. (I might be wrong about this)

I know this isnt a stompbox per se, but cant seem to find the answer anywhere else.

Thanks in advance

I'll take a stab in the dark, I think you wouldn't want to switch the phantom power, as could be hard on the mics, turning on and off a lot, and suddenly, as well as probably make a huge pop when you switch.  A way to do that would be to make a  phantom power "reservoir" (decoupled with a big cap)in the switcher that fed the mics outside of the switch, and then switch the balanced signals with a dpdt switch.

I'm guessing from the hot and cold in, connecting them both through 5K resistors to a big cap (1000uF with a .1 ceramic cap in parallel) to ground, and then from the big cap, through 4x 5K resistors to each mics hot and cold line.  Then you could switch the input hot and cold between the each mics' respective hot and cold.

The phantom power may sag too much in this arrangement, I don't think you would want to go lower on the resistors, or it will star affecting the impedance of the mics.  Another solution is to put phantom power in the switcher and forsake the avalon power, with a 48v switching power supply like at JLM audio or Seventh Circle (forget which one has them).
