Heya,
Been awhile since a relevant topic with me, but anyway.  I'm going to commence building a "blackfire" soon, and was wondering what anyone who's built one thinks of it.  Anything different you did with it?  I'm just gonna socket stuff I think would make a difference in it, and go from there.

As far as my other project, I'm "building" a guitar.  I've got a neck from a guitar I smashed a while back, and the body... well, I'm 'making' that, but I'll post pics when i get it sorted out.  Peace n Love,

The Black Fire is a work of Art.  Only thing I did was mess with the bypass caps to get less bass and smooth things out.  Also the 470pf/470k part lends itself to tuning to your guitar/pickup combo.  Try caps from 100pf to .1uf.  Great circuit, something about it sets it apart.  Everyone into distortion needs one, or 2.  I built a distortion with the BF as the 1st stage and a Mu/Srpp stage as the second. Pretty sweet.  8)

Methinks it needs a tone control to shine at it's utmost.

That's why I decided to build it, most everything I've heard about it had been extremely positive.  But a tone control, like a BMP style Tone?  Where abouts would I stick that (haven't done much with tone controls on pedals)?  Again, I appreciate feedback.  Thanks!

OH, Current Progress is nearly complete.  Funny thing is, I lost my 4.7M resistors.  So i made some from my 470Ks which i had a lot of.  I have what i like to refer to as 'resistor matrices' that are little sister boards to the main circuit.  this'll look interesting indeed, my friends.  Peace n Love,

Thanks, RDV, thats what I was picturing, I just needed clarification!  Many Thanks!  I just hope this all works on first fire-up!  I think you guys'll get a little kick out of the enclosure, hopefully!  Peace n love,

Aawwww ... play nice. Share.

I saw the discussion on the BMP/Swollen Pickle tone setup recently but I need pictures to visualise it. I breadboarded a Blackfire & Vulcan so I'd like to see the tone mod. Would a notch filter ala Roseyray also fit the bill ?

Tone control should probably be spliced in just beofre the volume pot.
There's a 5pc notch filter around here...[anyone?]...I built one, very simple and provides a nice tunable notch, should work well with the BF...I don't know what the loading would be with the Notch and the TC...whether it would get over unity still, the BF does have tons of gain.
I used a 3 knob  TC, and it gets less than unity at some settings, still working on it...sounds great though...Blackfire is Badass Distortion! ! !
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Thanks RDV ... now I see, and now I see where to put the notch
Thanks for sharing.

Its good to know that I have a Semi-broken BMP lying around, makes for a quick Tone Add.  Thanks again, I should be finished in an hour or so!  Here's hoping!  Peace n Love,
