PCB mount 3PDT switches?

Does anyone know of a source of 3PDT toggle switches.  It doesn't have to be surface mount, just small enough to fit in a normal pedal enclosure.  Not those big vaccum cleaner types like Aron sells.  Oh and most importantly inexspensive. Thanks.

Oh yeah and hopefully reliable. :P

... um, how about they have a white picket fence around them too?

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

you wanna hittit with yer boots, or 2 fingers?

TOGGLE switches?  Mouser has tons of different types.  STOMP (push on, push off) switches?  Forget it.

You can use the blue 3PDTs as PCB mount as long as you drill the holes large enough and use enough of a pad around the solder pins, no problems.

suppositely mounting jack sockets (1/4", 2.5mm, etc) on pcbs are not a good idea right ? cause if it is just mounted on pcb and not panel mounted, a step on the jack near where pedal can easily crack the pcb.... not a tough repair, but i guess something that can be avoided ?

but if its pcb+panel mounted then i guess its okay ? can't think of anything bad about it

RDV,

Do you use Eagle to do your PCBs? Did you design a component to get the outline and ho;es dimensions for the switch? It looks like a great fit on the board. Any issues with connections becoming loose for use?

Thanks RDV, that pic was easy worth 1,000 words!
It is somtimes considered poor form to hold a board in place this way in case stresses are generated as you tighten the nuts, but personally I think it's OK.

I wish it was mine. That's a picture of a "King of Tone" from //www.analogman.com. He does fantastic work.

If it was me I'd install the switches so the PCB would fit over the switch lugs, and only then solder the connections.

I'd have more of a reliability issue with the plastic sockets. The 'good' plastic sockets still have a metal 'core'.

Ha-ha :P  I am putting this in an already built enclosure and would like to replace the switch to make it true bypass without doing the millennia thing.  I am also working on manufacturing some enclosures for other projects and would like to have a different style for the stomp for aesthetic purposes.  It could even be like those little button switches the pedal mechanics would take care of the stresses on the switch so it shouldn't be heavy duty.
Just thought somebody would have come across some in a surpluss supplier or other that wasn't +$12.

In my experience, plastic sockets are way more reliable than one would expect. I've never seen any problems.
