This is the layout im using/used

This seems to be working like a volume effect or /treble and bass effect than a wah--no wah..I read power coming into this thing and i even read power on the grounds--i know that cant be right..For most of the places i read 7.61 to 7.69. I read the same voltage of the battery 8.4  around the input to the and down just a little further than its 7.61 again. For q1 and q2 i have 2n3904's--is that ok? Hell, the damn wah body even reads 7.61--hmmm

also--the inductors read 7.61 as well..

anyone with idears?

Hmm, there shouldn't be 7V at the grounds...certainly not on the wah shell.  Is there a short from +9V to ground anywhere?  You'd be able to tell because the battery would get hot.  Ground should be 0V.

2N3904s will be very mellow in a wah pedal...I'd try something with a little more "oomph" like 2N4401s or 2N5088s.  BC109Bs sound fantastic if you can get them :)

If the wah body - which should be earthed - is reading 7.61 V, what are you connecting the negative lead of your voltmeter to?

puretube

switched the meter to DC?

i have the neg end conn to the neg part of the battery...is that wrong? Still new to this?

I forgot to mention that i do get sound-just no wah-ing--im wondering if its a bad inductor--the switch seems to be working good.

Mother Nature is trying to tell you something.

When you put the meter (-) lead to the battery negative and then measure the voltage on what ought to be 0V in the pedal, you get 7 volts and change.  Mother Nature is trying to tell you that you don't have the battery negative connected to your circuit signal ground. If they were connected, there could be almost no voltage difference, millivolts at best.

You have a power wiring error, and that would account for all the symptoms you're describing. You have to get battery - connected to signal ground.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Thanks rg..--i used the GGG layout above but the board i have doesnt have a spot on the board like the ggg one where the black battery lead and the ring meet, so what i did was just put the black bat lead direct to the ring and skip the board part.. Ill look'er over again and look for that error--

thanks

jim
