I played around with the Lofomofo this weekend and got the filter portion working, but could not get anything out of the distortion.  I did not have a Schottky diode, so I used a regular silicon diode.

I assume that the higher forward voltage of the silicon diode is too high to have any effect on a raw guitar signal, so a Shottky diode is required, right?

Also, I assume the distortion works in the same manner as the Rat style clipping (only assymetrical), right?  So could this element be moved to the output side of the transistor?  Once the signal is boosted, other diodes/combinations could be used, right?

I really like the sound of the lofomofo, although after a few minutes, it can really start to feel like an ice-pick between the eyes.  :-)
