rangemaster not working

I built the PNP negative ground version, and I can't get it to work. I used a AC128 for the transistor, but I tested it with a AC188 too. I didn't got any sound of it. I tried the audio probe, and the sound stops when the signal is connected to the transistor, I can get the sound only thru the inout and outpuc caps. What this can be?
