diode-less tube screamer?

Hey everybody

I use a TS9 in my pedal board, but with the distortion knob all the way down, basically just for color and that sponge-iness. Has anyone here ever pulled the diodes out of their 'screamer? I'm wondering if I could really cut out the distortion then but still preserve the EQ and slight compression advantages . . .

Thanks

FYI that's what a FD2 in comp-cut mode does.

..in other words, no compression, just amplification.

I run my SOS with a 3-way switch where I can have symmetric clipping (2 diodes), asym or - get this - just ONE diode. That is a pretty cool sound, less compression, more clean, pretty nice. You might try that.

But maybe what you need is a AMZ Mini-boost..just finished mine - fixes that thin treble-ness of my strat, and can clean up the thick bottom of a humbucker (depending on the capacitor used). I'll post details later.

That's exactly what I use it for - to color the midrange on my Strat. Please post.

Thanks!

Maybe try my "bleedscreamer" without the LED's. It acts as an active treble bleed boost than (with variable cut-off frequency).
