Hi guys,
I'm repairing-modding a friend's Metal Zone and it has a bad op-amp. It has those single-row inline opamp chips (SIP) and I was hoping to find an equivalent that TI carries so I can get away with a few free samples, but I can't find anything that cross-references it.
Any suggestions?

When I "popped the hood" on mine, I thought I saw SIL JRC4558s in there....

What are the markings on those opamps in the one on your bench?

Ed G.

I'll have to see.
Being stingy, I thought I could make out with some free TI chips, maybe some audiophile Burr-Brown stuff or so, but they don't seem to have any SIP packaged opamps.

Most of the SIL packages come from Japan and Korea. It's mostly consumer-grade stuff, but Mouser does carry a SIL version of the 5532. 8)

You can always use a DIP part with a little jumpering. :D

Thanks, Paul. I'll check them out on mouser.
Anyone know of any common mods for this beast? I'm thinking of trying out different diodes like some LED's to smooth out that harsh artificial clipping sound.

try putting a silver mica cap in parallel with D3, keeley uses a 220pf - works great!
