The German tech on the tour i'm working on right now, builds and mods valve amps, he has a source of 50's style 6volt valves, as used in early car radios....... sound interesting ?
If anyone is interested ( Puretube?)  let me know and I'll get the details from him next week re: ordering some.

Marty.

BUMP
Tubes are not my forte, but getting them in a pedal design to run at 6v could be great eh ?? Or do they still need a step-up transformer ?
Puretube ?

They could probably be used in a guitar effect with the appropriate wall wart. Got any specifics on the tubes (like a number)?

as soon as I get more details, I'll post them up
Cheers

I have tried some of these. I guess the way I would put it is decent results but not spectacular. I guess the biggest limitation is the lower Mu of the tubes (less gain). Easy to wire up though.
