ice and gems don't mix?

I tried putting 1N5819s onto the input and output (separately) of a LM386 Doesn't seem to do much, except attenuate the volume.

Using a LP with stock hb's so the signal should be large enough, no? Is this to be expected?

I think we're all confused. Could you expand on what you're trying to do and where you got the idea of putting schottky barrier rectifiers in circuit?!

Might this have something to do with those passive diode clippers folks install in their guitars?

I think he's trying to put diode clippers on a little gem, though I dont understand why it wouldn't work...

my bad it does actually 'work', albeit not too well - the effect isn't really noticable on a 386 cos its too soft/muddy. maybe if i make it a preamp...

Could be because 386 has so much gain or is so sensitive the diode clipping not much has room to happen
