Hi guys...

Managed to get my scrmbler working....

Now i have realised just how nasty thios pedal really is, I was wondering if you guys suggested any uses for it...

The most I can think of is a really harsh intro for a song...

Thanks

Listen to the last song on Mahavishnu Orchestra's "Visions of the Emerald World Beyond."  John Maclaughlin is the master of brilliantly using weird effects.  I can't verify that it's the Scrambler, but it's something similar.

VOTEB is a great album.  I've been trying to get my band to cover the opening song on that album for years.  I love that ring mod on the last song too.  For an album that I know uses the Scrambler liberally, check out "Cactology" by Cactus.  Sounds like... doom!  I kick mine in wherever a real nasty sounding lead is required.  I've read that the Edge from U2 uses a Scrambler, but would be at a loss to tell you what songs.

Umm, sounds like the Scrambler is a weird effect. . . not familiar with it. Can you post a sample of it so I can hear, please? I'm looking for an "are you sure that sound is coming from THAT guitar?" type of effect arsenal.

Thanks.

The Edge used the Scrambler on the song Elevation.

Definitely an Unusual Sound,...Reminds me of [Peshawar Pakistan] when our Air Conditioner started burning the wall and 220v wires, and Nazee threw the pitcher of Water on It...
 OT theory
For such a 'left field' effect, and high parts count, it's interesting to me that Ampeg actually got interested in it. Looks to me that the design was 'extensive', in that it's rather complicated looking schemtaic. Some efforts must have been made to draw that up.
SOunds like a guitar playing in a gating plasma flux, bolts of arc, and sparks coming out of the players sockets !!! A 'living' fuze that never totally burns out. Very unusual noises.
Can this be replicated with opamps...lol !!!

One guy from Russian guitar forum said: "Scrambler seems to have a very special knob with the following positions - Damaged amp / Seriously damaged amp / Heavily damaged amp /  Agonizing amp..."
Too old to rock'n'roll, too young to die

It sounds like a ring mod mixed with the Ibanez FZ-7 with the Damage switch set to 100% and with a octave circuit.

Oh, c'mon, it's not AS radical as noise swash!!! :)))
