midi pedalboard...?!?

How does that thing work.. it looks and i believe works similar to the Combinator 2, but how do these MIDI asiignable pedalboards work? Where u have like 10 switches... what kind of effects/stompboxes can u connect there? :?:

the midi controller plugs into a "loop" interface, which has a few main parts - input and output jacks, dpdt "true bypass" relays, relay drivers/midi interface, and some sort of patch memory system.  Pretty much you program patch one to a specific combanantion of "ports" aka "loops" on and off.
