hi, i got all the parts to build this http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/diagrams/muffpl.gif

but i cant work out a way to put it until stripboard or perfboard, can anyone please help??

I recommend you check out the tutorials on Small Bears site (www.smallbearelec.com) for building on perf.  This doesn't look like a terribly complicated (read: high parts count) project, so you should be able to come up with a layout for it without much difficulty.

I've found making my own layouts really helps me learn what I'm doing.

btw, before i work on it, i feel compelled to mention that you can BUY a pre-made PCB from General Guitar Gadgets for $8-$10 ...that way your layout matches EXACTLY what you build.... (plus he has great service and fast shipping...)

id recommend that method FIRST, but i'll work on the stripboard layout anyway....

ROG, or scroll down from 'what's new' to find 'Homewrecker".
 There is a perfboard template you can print out.
 I'd print more than one so you can re-draft.
 Dual opamps have an amp on the left, an amp on the right, schamatics show linear wiring. This makes discrete devices simpler to make a linear layout for. Some how the second half of the oa's circuit has to 'come around' to the *right side of the opamp. *in duals, each amp is independant and they could be used in 'swapped positions.
 Basically just start from the left, work toward the right, and have to 'bend around that duals second amp using pins 5, 6 and 7.
 Keep wires kinda short, I did a few re-drafts before I was satisfied.
 Start with the oa in the middle of that large board, so you can see how much real estate you'll need around the OA. try to keep it sort of tight, so you can cut off the edges, makeing it not so big.
 Disregard newb tips if your'e not newb:
 Socket opamp
 socket caps [input cap {I use 4 pins of 8 pin IC or other Socket} and Diodes {I use a full 8 pin IC socket for diodes and cap changes here} for starters] if you want to tweek it.
 dont overheat diodes or oa
 Check for short between battery clip + and - before first firing
 Check all grounds
 I pretest boards without jacks and switch to so I can debug/tweek, wiring gets less stress, fewer shorts, less gangly etc.
 Have a Great Build...
 I see Stripboard layouts popping up. Might be one pops up for this schematic in a day or so...hard to say how applicable this cct is to stripboard without drafting layouts.

Only the more reason to learn how to do it yourself.  Common points connect to one strip or one point on the perfboard - other than that, spread things out and work input to output on a schematic.

hey i just finished it, but im having problems, when i press the switch i get silence...... any ideas why?

Check your layout.  Then double check your layout.  Then triple check your layout.  Cross check each node on the circuit diagram with your layout and make sure that for each node, only the components that are supposed to be connected are indeed connected.  Mark off each node on your circuit diagram as you progress so you know which have been checked.

Then make sure you have all the connectors wired correctly and check that your battery is working and connected in the correct polarity.

If it still doesn't work, then try posting a pic of your board (both sides) and the associated wiring then perhaps someone can spot the mistake.

Sometimes you have to look to yourself to sort these problems - it is a learning process, keep trying.

Check to make sure your transistors are oriented properly

i also need to correct one thing on the layout...a break that torchy mentioned

if you have a DMM, you can check the voltage across the emitters, collectors, and bases of the trannies...a quick "search" of this site will give you instructions...

which layout did you use? i havent had a chance to "verify" mine, but i know Torchy's works...i'll verify mine tonight, but it looks to be correct...

do you have the transistors oriented properly? (collectors toward the "top" of the board in BOTH layouts)

also, try toughing up your connections with a soldering iron, just to make sure theyre good...
