I also went for "he stole the MB design..." at first, but I came across a little drawing b keeley of what he claims to be the daul JFET boost, and it actually is a cascaded Jfet gain stage running at 18V (max1044)

$330.00 for a booster :?  yikes!
   george linch, has great chops but, his live sound is nowhere near the sound he got on record. maybe this will help. it better for that price.
