Hey,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

OK, what I need is some with a simple DPDT relay circuit.  What I want to do is use a spst footswitch to switch a DPDT relay.  For some reason, relays confuse me.

Does any have a layout for me to show how I would go about this?  The simpler the better!!  I'm planning on using either a 5 or 12v relay.

Thanks for all the help you have provided in the past without knowing it!

Just run the switch as an on/off toggle in series with the power supply and one leg of the input wire. When the switch is on (or closed) current will flow through the solenoid creating a magnet which attracts the triggering bar of the DPDT. When you open the switch (turn it off) the magnetic field collapses and the DPDT trigger returns to it's former state. They're typically used so that a small current can control a much larger current so we can stay out of harms way...you must be planning something big  :)

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Thanks RG.  I'll give that a read.

What I'm ACTUALLY doing, is making a bunch of pedal circuits, but housing them in a rack chassis, and I'm planning on using a relays to bypass the circuits.  I'm going to use an old Rockman Midi Octopus to switch the relays.

Thanks for the help guys!!
