anyone ever found a pedal to simulate the sound of a mesa boogie rectifier amp? or at least just give a decent rectifier heavy metal distortion?

It should be possible with a JFET emulation.  Haven't seen one done though.

how does one go about making a JFET simulation? do you have to basically make the preamp section replacing the tubes with JFET's?

the thing that makes me think doing an actual JFET sim would be almost not worth the trouble is because the rectifier series has 3 channels of distortion. i think a straight up simulation of the 'rectifier sound' would be more logical. but thats just me.

I have a design that I built.  It didn't really have the sound I wanted, and I haven't had the time to debug it and see what went wrong.  The information can be found within the link.
