A while back, I posted a schematic for a fuzz/octave fuzz design called the "Joybuzzer". It's a fairly verstile, very cool sounding fuzz pedal, and had a few cool features like a switchable octave. Well, I REALLY like the basic fuzz/grind sound of this pedal, so I thought it'd be worthwhile to make a "stripped down", basic version of it....I was TOTALLY RIGHT ! This pedal sounds really good, somewhere between a silicon fuzz and a cranked Marshall stack ! Plus, as an added bonus, it cleans up pretty darn good....

Anyway, this should be easy enough for the beginning builder, and should only take the intermediate/advanced builder about 20 minutes to make. If you don't have the 1N963 diodes, you should be able to substitute some 1N914's without too much change in tone.

Well....ENJOY !!!

Interesting looking schematic. What are the 1N963s? Zener diodes?
Soundclip a possibility?

yep...theyre zeners, at least according to the info ive found....when i get home, tonite or tomorrow, i'll take a voltage reading on them...

unfortunately, i dont have soundclip "capability" yet....but its an easy, cheap build....  :)

Those 1N963s are 12V zeners. I just happen to have a few of those lying around...  8)

try puttin' them in sockets on a few of your circuits...i think they sound VERY good....good enough that i buy 'em 100 at a time !

let me know what you think !
