i have seen lots of schematics with extensions of .ps, what program do  you use to view these files?

If you are using windows then you can use Ghostscript/GSview.

The distiller in Adobe Acrobat can convert .ps to .pdf.  

This the $99 Acrobat product that creates .pdf not the Acrobat Reader (free).  You may have access to it at work or know someone who has access to it.

The free Acrobat Reader reads .pdf.
