The biggest I have is 250K, will this lower the amount of gain available? What if I run 750K Ohm of resistance in series with it?

250k will indeed decrease the available gain in the pedal. I would suggest if you really want to get it working *now* then use the 250k while you get yourself a 1M pot.

By putting 750k in series with the pot you are going to make the gain control effectively turn from 75% to 100% of the normal pot travel.

Start with just the 250k and if you *need* to have higher gain now then put some resistance in series. At least the lower gain will give you a taste for the pedal and what tones to expect.

and remember a fresh battery is essential to get this thing to work without squealing.

Good luck, and get a 1M pot  :D

Actually, I think you have it switched around as I decided to use a 1 Meg resistor where the pot would usually go, and had a very weak signal. After I removed the resistor, the gain jumped way up. I may give a 250K pot a try, as I'm not real interested in low gain situations with this pedal.  LOL  ;)

Thanks for the help though.
