switching output caps question

'Lo all,
i was looking at the 'tantalus project' at runoffgroove ( http://www.runoffgroove.com/tantalus.html) , and was wondering, do you need the dpdt to switch between output caps, because the 100k volume pot would drain any leakage current from the cap, meaning you could use a spdt on the collecter...unless of course the above is all complete rubbish  :?   ...
