Hi all -

Anybody had any experience obtaining an enclosure similar or preferably identical to the old-style Ibanez AD80?  The reason I ask is I have been presented with one to fix and the aluminum box is broken into multiple pieces (first time I have ever seen this and didn't know it was possible), but the electronics still work.

I would love to give it back to the customer looking something like stock if possible, although I'm not going to re-create the graphics and such.

Thanks -
Mark

I think your going to find it almost impossible to find one !
They are "prized" and never come up "cheap"
If you do a search for "enclosures" you'll find "Hair force one's" link to his
"Boss" look alike box's.
I just used one for a "Tube screamer build" and they look quite cool.
Here it is.....

You could paint one "Salmon Pink" and use the knobs from the old one!

Thanks for the quick reply and the link.

Another thought I had is to wait until the Behringer "Boss copies" come out later this year.  At about $20 (likely sell price) I could gut one and use the box.  At least they look like they will be similar in shape to the original AD80.

I guess I'm a little surprised the original maker of the enclosures (probably contracted by Ibanez/Maxon) hasn't shown up on the web with boxes for sale for the DIY market.

Thanks again -

Notice that no one has done that. I'm sure a box that's custom-cast, like the Boss or Maxon/Ibanez stuff is meant to stay unique to each manufacturer. It's their calling card. It's how you know it's a Boss pedal, etc.

Of course the pedal world is overrun by Hammond and Bud boxes in the MXR style (what I, and most DIY-ers I know use) but MXR started using commercial boxes instead of coming up with their own like E-H or Maestro, etc.

It would be awesome if someone would offer cast boxes like the ones that Seamoon used to use (remember seeing Anderton's Tube Sound Fuzz build in his book? It was built into one of these boxes and I've always wished someone offered something like that)

Until then, I'll stick with the Hammond style aluminum boxes.
