regulated power supply from variable ps transformer

hi guys
i'm wanting to make a regulated power supply for my stompboxes using the transformer from a regulable power supply. it can provide 3v, 4.5v, 6v, 7.5v, 9v and 12v... so the output transformer has 7 wires... 6 of them going to a ST6P switch

there are only two connections at the output transformer, y think i should use the wire connected to the 12v position and the 7th one... am i right? if i am, what should i do with the other five wires?

can you retain the switch as part of the design? That would be the easiest way. Otherwise, yes you are correct. The unused wires should be individualy insulated from any electrical contact.


I have encountered such a switch that is not a conventional 6P6T switch. They are designed to wire the multiple taps in series so as to reach the high voltages. But, having only seven wires and 6 available voltages leads me to believe that the taps are independent of each other.
