What is a simple 12AX7 based high gain pedal I can build?

I am looking for something simple but that will yield enough tube gain for heavy metal lead distortion, and I don't mean this crap nu metal.

I hope to build something simple then add my own tone stack post completion. I want rich tube distortion uncompromised. No adding solid state gain.
I want it coming 100% from a tube. Thick, ronchy and suitable to run straight through the clean channel of a triple rectifier.

This pedal will become an ongoing project. Some one please help get me started. The only tube distortion I can find is this shaka tube circuit variety.....

but... you have a triple rec...

search the archives, theres loads in there.
also consider not building a stompbox but an entire preamp, and/or the fact that the difference between tubes and other technologies is more or less out the window when massively clipping. Most "heavy" guitarists prefer poweramp distortion, not preamp.
Do you have any build experience? Tubes work on lethal voltages, which mostly stay present in the unit even when its off and not plugged in...
