what size drill bit for board preparation?

I can't seem to find a small enough bit

I use the 1mm bit from my "Dremel" - seems to work fine and allows you to fit slightly bigger component leads, such as 1N4001 diodes/LED's.

I would think a slightly bigger hole would be nice because you almost do point-to-point wiring if it was a fairly simple circuit.
