Searched around the forum a bit, and all I could find was talk of discontinuing these things, but my question is this.

I'm gonna build a few Dyna/Ross's and was wondering which of the 2 CA3080's @ Smallbear will work for this circuit, or will both? Any pros/cons if they both work?

Or basically, what's the difference between the CA3080E and CA3080A???

Well while we're at it, I have a few of the old-style can 3080As and I'm not 100% sure what the pinout is on those. Can anyone help?

Thats the most acurate data sheet for the old can type. http://alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/view/INTERSIL/CA3080.html
Tab on can over pin 8.

I've still got some of these for sale/trade if anyone is interested please goto the sale/trade page.

If you want to learn more about OTA's here are a couple of good tech. and application data pages from Intersil.  Very good info :D http://www.intersil.com/data/an/an6077.pdf

ICs are viewed from the top.
TO chips (DIL-CAN) got a flange/tab/rim.
Hold the 3080 such, that the tab looks north (12 o`clock):
that`s pin8.
Left of it (ccw...) you got pin1.
Pin4 (V-) is connected to the case.

"A" version got tighter specifications, larger temperature range, and higher price...
(anybody said: "mil spec" ?)
