That's a Ge Diode, such as a 1N43A ! :D

indeed a diode... but i can't see what it's doing...

I thought that is what it is.  how do I know what one it is?  I need a 1N914 for the Whisker Biscuit schematic.

just try any Ge diode.  1N34, 1N60, whatever you can get your hands on.

a 1N914 is about the same as a 1N4148, and they are silicon, not germanium (Ge).

Cool.  I'm going through my parts and seeing what I don;t have to build a whisker biscuit.  I got that diode from an old 900Mhz phone.  There might be another on on therebut smaller.  I will have to look.

It's a Diode Germaniun  I have bunch of that :)   1N34A (ecg 109 )

Values :

               PIV 60V
               Average Rectified Current 50mA
               Forward Voltage 1V
               Capacitance 0.8Pf ( typ.)
               Surge Current 500 mA

 :)

Radioshack code : 276-1123

well, hopefully the forward voltage during conduction is a little lower... 8^)

Is that the only GE diode RS has?  I was looking for awhile a couple months ago at RS and didn't see one
