Can i get more breakup from a sparkle boost?

col

Try a different J201 or 2N5457 if yours is socketed. Mine has a rediculous gain which pushes my amp well into overdrive at full boost.

im guessing youre wanting more "distortion", not "gain(volume)"....

try a 20uf cap i place of the 10uf...seems to make the fet "dirty up" a bit more...

Are you using clipping diodes? You should be able to get a LOT of breakup at the expense of some output. Ideally you would want to be getting the breakup by slamming the input of a tube amp. That's what most *boost* circuits excel at. But if you haven't done so, find the original *sparkle boost* thread and read the info on clipping diodes.
