BD-2 LED Not Working

I have modded my BD-2.  I always do one mod at a time and check afterwards.  After doing one mod the LED stopped working and for the life of me I cannot figure out what happened.  I even tried replacing it thinking it went bad but the new LED doesn't work either.  I've checked and double checked everything, all the wires look fine.  Anyone have any ideas.  I can't seem to figure this one out.

Thanx,

Well..I know I'm not of much help, but when I did a mod on a DS-1, the LED stopped working as it was shorting a modded component that stuck up off the board. Try keeping the Pedal open, and unscrewing the LED PCB from the box, to prevent any shorts.

Cheers,

Nish

P.S. Did you do any mods involving the LED? or the current limiting resistor for the LED?

T-Von

Thanx for the reply.  I checked all of that and still no go.  This one really has me baffled.  No reason why it shouldn't be working.

Is it possible that you may have burnt the Led? Try another normal red led, and see what happens...I'll find the schem today, and look to see what could be causing it.

Yep, that's the first thing I did.  Went to Rat Shack and got one and replaced it.  Still no go.  I guess there is a benefit, the battery will last longer.  ;_)

Hum.....yout post about a component that affects the LED.  I did several mods.   Which ones would affect the LED.  Could a mod keep the LED from working?  Maybe on to something here.

Had a similar problem with an SD-1 I modded.
Did you change the resistor tied to the LED for the supply to compensate for the extra power that LED might take? It might not be letting enough current through to drive the light.  If you have the specs on the LED (if it's a Radio Shack one and you kept the package you should), then doublecheck to make sure everything is kosher...

Sorry if this is  way below you, as I'm a newbie and have no idea what your skills are, and figured I'd throw my two cents in.

Let me know if this is one of those "dude, of course I've already done that!" posts... lol...

First make sure that the LED is the right way round, orange cable is positive on the small board, positive side of LED has the longer leg and is the smaller piece of metal "inside" the LED.
On the BD-2 if you use an "Ultra Bright" 3mm LED remove D11 which is a zener diode  and "jumper it" with a small piece of wire.
R39 (1.2k) controls the brightness, increase this to about 8.2k if the LED is then tooooo bright !

Thanx Marty, tried the jumper and checked the LED.  Still no go. Very frustrating.  The pedal with the mods sounds awesome but now I have no LED. Bummer.

Marty, you are a genius!  It was a D11 mod that was blowing the LED. I went to Rat Shack and got a Zener Diode and LED and it's now working.  Thanx so much for this info.  I've learned a lot but I'm still making these types of stupid mistakes.  Live and learn I guess.

Thanks !
But  I'm VERY FAR from being a "Genius" . . . . . . . .
some would say "dumb ass"  !!!
