guys, sorry for another beginner topic, however this could interest you guys too..

own a 90's green BMP sovtek, bad condition, very.

(led dead but sounds strong, battery dying fast, output/input jack squeal, crackling sounds, weak fuzz) anyone know what could be wrong?

so, looked inside to attempt to find and hopefully fix the problem of the unit.

the strange thing was that on a silver resistor? (looked like one, but 4X the length in size, and 5 times thicker then the normal resistor) one side of the lead was not soldered at all, clean surface, it must have been produced like that.

why is this?

thx appreciated

That's an axial electrolytic capacitor.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

rg's right, problem could perhaps be a dead cap, might be easier to trace through with a signal generator and cro or a audio probe might give you some clue. Could also be a transistor. Hard to speculate

OT a bit, but I had a black Russia Muff I got around 98 or 99, it died after like 6 months of light home use.
