Battery Connections Ramble

Anyone using battery holder/clips?
 What about a battery connector/holder with mechanical reverse polarity protection like phone batteries have?
 A bar on the + side of the battery, and a slot on the + side of the connector would prevent the contacts of the battery from touching if inserted in the reverse polarity position... ...yeah, a little late, and...but nobody would ever have had to mess with reverse protection diodes or blown stuff as a result of not dioding across + / _.

My digital camera has a system like that, which I promptly hacked so that I could use my NiHM batts...

This is why the 9v battery is the greatest thing in the world!
