I'm halfway through modifying my DOD Punkifier (the original schem is linked above), and so far I've turned the opamp distortion "channel" into a MXR Distortion+ with Ge diodes and more gain.  I'm gonna stick a LM1458 (dual 741) in there too as soon as I pick one up.

Now it's time for the Fuzz channel!  Call me kooky, but it sure looks similar to the Bazz Fuss or Buzz Box:

Before tearing into and possibly screwing up my pedal, I just thought I'd run this past the board:

1) Would it be possible to remove the 22M-to-9v resistors from the Fuzz section of the Punkifier and then replace the 1M feedback resistors with diodes and tweak the remaining values to Buzz Box specs?  Perhaps only the second transistor needs to be turned into a Bazz Fuss, and then let the first transistor act as a boost into it?

2) Making screwy noises with a bias knob: simply a matter of replacing the resistors between +9v and the collectors with pots?

I'm aiming for being able to blend the vintage Distortion+ channel with just a hint of ka-razy fuzz.

I don't see why not. I think you can remove the 2K input resistor and the 2K output resistor with no problems.
