Will better components make my ross comp clone sound better?  For example, lower tolerance metal film resistors, better caps, and higher gain transisors?  All I'm saying is I want "trey anastasio" sustain and compression, and i'm only getting, in my opinion, mediocre tone.  Maybe its just me... ha.

No.

In more detail - it might make a 5% difference, maybe not even that much.

is there anything I can do to give it a rounder, warmer feel?  Here is the circuit I used...except I used 5% res. and 2n3904 transistors.

Aren't those the original transistors? There's a lot more to copping an artist's tone than just one pedal. A lot of Ross compressors went up in price on ebay b/c of that guy, but remember, he also stuck two tube screamers in front of the compressor, which ran into two fender amps, all driven by his custom-made hollowbody electric.

Yeah I know Ed....  I just thought maybe it would sound a little better, that's all.
