I was just shown the error of my ways! I was talking about Doug Hammond on the "Meaning of Life" post! I did mean that about him, but certainly not you. I can only beg your forgiveness at this point. I think all I really need is a full cranialrectomy!
Homer: "Mr. Burns, you're the richest man I know"            Mr. Burns: Yes Homer It's true... but I'd give it all up today, for a little more".

No harm done at all, buddy.

Would that I got confused with someone who knew what they were doing EVERY day.

Jeff:

No intent to rip on you, either, sir!  Just wanted to make sure everything is (and stays) straight!

Hey!  If you're still lookin' for thin fuzz, have you tried an Orange Sunshine yet?

Excuse me if I get a little distracted. Some people behind me on the tv are getting eaten by man-eating anacondas that are mating. We're talking major coitus interruptus here... Man, those boys are ticked!

So okay, I lurked over here and saw all this stuff going on about Torchy and etc. And somehow my name keeps coming up and my ears are burning really bad now. I can't hold back anymore, I had to say something.

First off, Jeff! What's the deal man? Last I remember talking to you we were chatting about what we were getting our kids for Christmas. Now you're on here saying I haven't acted gentlemanly? What gives? Did you ever ask me why I quit coming around?

The main reason I quit hanging out here was time . I didn't have as much time for it anymore, didn't feel I had much to contribute anymore, didn't feel like I was getting much out of it. All pretty mundane stuff, really. Yeah, the little flare up last Dec was the proverbial straw. But it kicked me in the butt to follow through with something I had needed to do for a year or two.

Re. the deleted posts: Yeah, I deleted them. I was venting some frustration with the flare up. I honestly had no idea that was a faq no-no at the time. If I had, I would not have touched them. The posts were not a big deal to me either way, I was just venting, that's it. I have apologized profusely to Aron since then. (And I now apologize to Peter too.) Last thing I want to do is aggravate those 2 guys. They work too hard for all of this and have done a wonderful job.

I was pretty naive and stupid in retrospect. In all honesty I didn't expect that erasing some posts would draw that much attention. I was hoping to slip out quietly Well, that was a major backfire...  I had no idea that 3 months later people would still be discussing this nonsense.

So feel free to call me naive or stupid, I deserve that. And I apologize for any ruckus or stink that I caused- that was honestly never my intention. But no, I was not making a "dramatic exit", throwing a "hissy fit", producing "histrionics", or suffering some kind of mental condition as my former friends as well as people who are unacquainted with me have claimed.

I have told everyone who has asked me: I still think this is a great place and a lot of good stuff is happening here. I can't participate like I once did, but I will be checking in from time to time. Like my 3rd grade teacher said, "You guys gossip worse than a bunch of ladies in a sewing circle". ;-)  So if you want to know something about me, feel free to ask me.

Omigod, now my wife's starting to watch HGTV... I've gotta get out of here...

If it took that post to make you appear, it was worth it! Basically, it was what you just now said. I never did think it was right that everyone got your wrath, and I stick by that. I thought that was wrong. What you've just said now (in my opinion) is what you should should have said in the beginning, so that everything was clear. That's what I meant by my statement. You'll also recall in there, that I'm your fan, and I still am. I just thought that pulling your posts was inappropriate to do when 99% of the people on here had nothing to do with whatever went on in the "?" post. Now that finished (for today anyway) making a horses ass out of myself  , welcome back :D . How could I not be the fan of the guy who gave me my first effect "The Bobtavia". Now, about that Gargler.......

I have built the Orange Sunshine, and I don't consider it that thin. The fuzz played on "Revolution" and "Heart Full of Soul" is in the ball park of what I've been searching for but even thinner than that. My Si Tone Bender is in the neighborhood, but not quite.

It wasn't wrath, just frustration. FAQ guidelines aside, I don't really see why people get offended by others removing their stuff from the archive. It's their stuff.

I sent this post just to get some things off my chest. I didn't need to say anything until now. People think what they want to think about others, I can't control that, so I don't worry about it.

A moment of panic (though sometimes blessed relief!) that many of us share in common.

Many thanks for a resounding chuckle.

I think I know what kinda fuzz you are talking about. But I don't know how to get it. I wish I did.

BITD(back in the day) :)

I used my parents cassette player with a mic input into their stereo fo an amp. Let me tell you that thing had the most glorious fuzz.

Any ideas how I could simulate that in a pedal?

It was alot like the "revolution fuzz" now that I think about it.

I used to use an old Roberts or Wollensak tube reel to reel, plug the guitar into the mic input, and run the line output to my guitar amp.  So did Ritchie Blackmore, apparently (though I doubt it was the same tape deck).

The tone seems to come from a few factors.  One, tubes obviously.  Two, whatever toneshaping is in place for vocal mics.  Three, whatever impedance "issues" there are between a line output that "thinks" it is going to a line input or mixer.  Four, a guitar signal is several orders of magnitudes greater than that of most vocal mics, and the preamp gets seriously overloaded.

Sounds WONDERFUL, though.
