I am a beginner in mods and just starter to mod my DS-1 by replacing D4 & D5 with LEDs.
Great! I am very happy already and will continue by replacing some resistors and capacitors.
Apart from this I am wondering if replacing D6 & D7 by LEDs will affect the sound?
Does anyone have tried?

MartyMart

From memory ( dont have the schem up ) D4/D5 are the "clipping" diodes
and  D6/D7 are part of the "switching" circuit so they won't have any audio effect at all.
D8 is the "reverse power protection" diode also.
Adding a 47pf cap across the LED's you changed to, will "smooth" out some harshness.
Change R11 to 51k and R13 to 2k4 for "cleaner" low gain settings
Reducing R14 will get you some more distortion also.

Cheers,
