now that description sounds like a pinch harmonic to me  :?

I'm definitely no stranger to those

I've done a bunch of google searches for "wolftones" but my results are always flooded with references to an irish band of that name

sorry for the OT, but how do you like the scalloped fretboard Mark?  I've never played a guitar with that feature....

Quote from: BD13UKI was about 20 when Hendrix came on the scene and in thoses days there wasn't any fancy high output pickups etc and I still believe that the best sounds came from standard pickups, you only have to listen to Hendrix or Claptons Les Paul on Fresh Cream to hear great sounds so I'd certainly agree with the theory of standard wound pickups though I'm not convinced about large headstock Strats sounding any better than the norm.

I read an article in a recording magazine about good guitars to record with. According to the article, recording engineers prefer old strats  to the newer models because of the pickups. Supposedly the newer pups are more harsh and strident sounding. They went on to promote the G&L as a good modern alternative to the current strats, because the pups are lower output like the old strats.

It was a good article. I don't have a strat yet but this got me seriously interested in the G&Ls for when I am ready to buy.

The scalloped fretboard is really cool.  I've been on the hunt for a new guitar for quite some time, and I always wanted bigger frets on whatever I tried.  I think this is the way to go, for me.  You really feel how much pressure you're putting on the strings, so you tend to play with a lighter touch.  You can bend and use vibrato more easily.   The other thing I've noticed is that you have to place your fingers more accurately on the string because there's more "air".   It seems like you can miss the string more easily.  I've been playing lots of patterns (4 note diagonal lines etc.) and this is getting better.

The pickups sound really good too.  I've never played Dimarzios much before, but these sound really good.  Or maybe it's the large headstock.  :-)

It's a keeper.
