The Guitar player for my band, recently broke his Ibanez Tube King.  I was wanting to repair it, but because of the way in which it broken (He smashed the Gain Pot into itself, I'm not really sure how), So i need to know what the resistance is of the Gain pot and also If anyone can recommend a replacement part.  It has a somewhat odd connection setup and I can't find that one specifically.  Thanks

Find out yourself

I would, but the pot is too far destroyed to be able to get a useable value across it.  And about a replacement part, I went to Alps website and talked to them on the phone, And i'm not really interested in 1000 pots just so I can replace one on a pedal, so that was why i wanted to know if someone could recommend one.

Sorry, First time I opened it up, the pic didn't load.  I see it now.  Thanks.  Still would appreaciate a recommendation on the replacement.

Try finding an electronics supply in your area, Radio Shack even. Otherwise, try Smallbear or Mouser, but postage might cost just as much, or more, than the price of a single pot.

I'm sorry but not able to recommend you on a good replacement.

However, the quote as above is a point which I run into all the time. I some case I would have been interested in even buying 100 of a specific device but still either the manufacturer ir the representative is not interested. Having said that I can be amazed that these same manufacturers complain about sales beiing low because of a so called "economy slowdown". If there was a way if making these devices available (maybe through a 3rd party who buys in hundreds_ for "few piece users" total sales (as on a world wide level) could increase astronomically.

Radio Shack doesn't sell 500K pots, but they do have a 1Meg unit. just wire that in parallel with a 1 meg resistor and you'll have something close, but with a different taper. You could always just use a 1 Meg pot as a straight replacement with the side effect being that you will have 2 times the gain of the original circuit.

Actual 500K linear taper pots: :D

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.  I still would like to find a replacement that doesn't involve trying to discover a new way to mount the pot.  The original pot was made by alps and has 4 pins coming off of it.  Same as the RK11K series that they make now.  I was hoping that someone made something similar, but i've been all though mouser and couldn't find anything, and several other sites, but still nothing.
