I'm thinking a computer power supply could be a good provider for supplying power to effects. Anyone ever tried this?

Be very careful with your choice of power supply. Many computer power supplies have minimum current requirements and will not work properly until you put power resistors on the unused voltages. I had this problem looking for a power supply for a low powered computer and found I was not drawing enough current.

hmmm, just replaced the PS in the computer as it died. So much for the computer tech at the store - "Think your motherboard is stuffed mate"
No just their fault finding....

No, more and more I am finding this is standard procedure :( For most problems claim the motherboard is bad and has to be replaced. More money in replacing motherboards :(

Always check the power supply first. I don't know how many computers I have "saved" just by replacing the power supply.
