Here is a clip of Mark Hammers "Roseyray". I haven't got Torchy's layout for this all the way done yet (waiting for a Small Bear capacitor shipment) but a few months back I used the Voodoo Lab OD schem/layout and subbed Marks parts onto that. He's right, it's proving to be a real usefull distortion/od. Anyway, I recorded previous other clips straight into a sound card to demonstrate the tones, no effects. This time, I used a real amp and microphone into a Tascam 4 track, I double tracked the lead lines and I added a slight Midiverb delay to the sound (Hey, I've gotta keep up with RDV's killer tone and playing!!!! :D ). The amp is slightly distorted (pre amp on 4) and most of the gain is from the "Roseyray". The clip is from a tune I wrote called "Zion" and the tone control is set to the big "scooped" mid thing. Thanks again Mark, killer pedal!!!!

Very COOl !!! Great sounds, nice layering !!!
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Very nice clip! I am wondering what you used for an amp? SS or tube rectifier? Guitar? Speaker cabinet?

Nice playing BTW :)  I would have liked to hear how the same settings sounded with some full chords though... I could really use a lead sound like that with the ability to go to full open chords relatively smooth.

Sounds like a promising build! Got any pics?

That sounds a lot better than anything I've done. My samples are all "quick & dirty" cause I'm too lazy to do it any other way!

Great Job!

No pic yet, this build was done on perf and then I added extra caps to take away the motor boating effect. It's a real rough looking board. Pics very soon though, I'll be getting my Small bear order Friday. The amp's a 1979 Marshall JMP MK2 but the Pre amp is barely on 4 so the gain is coming from the pedal. I'll try to post another clip with a rythym sound but I'll say this: it's pretty similar to Marks "Chaos" pedal but with a real rock/fusion attitude. Do a search for Chaos and you'll hear what that chords like into a sound card. The pedal's tone knob is so cool, it actually "blends" between two different tones: far left is tube screamer like and turned far right, it's got that wacked out scooped mid tone I can't seem to get away from. It's easy to assume the tone is from the amp but beleive me, all the pedal gets from the amp is that warm tube quality, hardly any gain. This pedal rocks!! Look at Torchy's vero, not too hard a build either.

BTW, Thanks RDV :D
You should design a new HMP and call it "Quick and Dirty"

I am genuinely moved, man.  First, to hear the circuit in such a good light.  Second, to know that it works as well as intended.  Third, to hear someone be inspired to work so diligently on something so beautiful...BECAUSE IT SOUNDED WONDERFUL TO THEM...well that just beats all.  There is certainly a place in the world for blues-rock wanking (and trust me, I can move right in and live there quite comfortably thank you very much), but when someone goes beyond that, and I helped to supply the fuel, I just kinda run out of emoticons for that sort of thing.

Thanks
Mark

Thanks for the kind words Mark! Roseyray inspiring? Oh yeah!!! Thank you very much for coming up with it!! I've got a special box ready for it and I'll post a pic as soon as I get my Small Bear order in to complete Torchy's layout of it.

One other thing, isn't it cool how sometimes your favorite pedals/circuits are not mass produced, well known hype.... but creations by knowledgable people who have a passion for this kind of stuff and share it freely??? I am very lucky...........

Wow, that's some singing tone. Fluid.
