It's quite true that multiturn trimpots (eg Bourns) are prettywell essential in trimming out the bleedthrough. But, if it is a crap design or a dodgy layout, it isn't going to fix it!.... I know from bitter experience

`nother solution: use a LM13600/-700:
one half as 4-Q-multiplier ("ringmod."), other half a "amplitude mod." (see the appl.-notes).
Use this VCA to "soft-gate" the oscillator-signal according to an envelope (control-)voltage derived from the (guitar-)signal`s input...

I like that. In fact, I wonder if a really good ring mod would not use both an NE57x for the envelope generation and soft gating and an OTA or OTA pair for doing the ring mod.

This whole block shuffling thing makes me want to dust off the Fx Bus.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

maybe that  combination is Moog`s secret?

Does anyone know whether the Moog ring mod has a noise gate built in?
And as far as RG's posts being like a cooked turkey.. sometimes they make me feel like I'm the turkey  :D  keep them coming!

Most likely, yes.  I'm not sure though.  There are a LOT of misc op amps in there.

Again, R.G.'s files at GEO might help us get rid of the carrier noise.
Remember the Stuttering pedal?
Make an envelope follower sidechain controling a FET or a transistor (like Dr. Quack's FXBus module for e.x.   ) and make it replace "Rsource" on the Stuttering pedal.
Also speed up the Stuttering pedal's LFO to audio frequency.
Might work???
It's late here and I'm tired. Gonna try it out tomorrow.

Cheers,
Pedro
