go check out Tim's punch in the face schematic at his site. then think about this: i couldnt get a 330K resistor, as called for in the schematic, so i used a 33k and a 300k in series.  the 330k resistor comes after the .1uf cap from input, just in case someone couldnt find it, although that is a REALLY small circuit. ANYWAY.  why is it that if i put a .1uf cap at the meating of my 33k and 300k resistor, it makes the pedal breakup less, making it sound more like a metal fuzz? its cool, with the cap there, it accentuates all of the pedals wierdness. anyone know why? also, i wired up a feedback loop, and when i hit  a single note and hold it, after a few seconds it gives me some type of scale (as in major, minor, diatoic, whatever) down. is this step ring modulation?

With the 33k/300k thing you're basically futzing around with the first transistor's bias.  Try using just the 300k resistor (replace 330k resistor with 300k), that will probably accentuate things even more.

could i just wire up a bias pot?

Sure, why not.

what i mean is, would it be worth it?
