I haven't got mine to work yet but all I used was the corrugated plastic used cheap signage with a layer of adhesive backed aluminium tape.Oh,and I had to go through quite a few VHS tapes before I found one that gave me about 1 mtr and 1Meg.

I can't think of any reason why conductive copper tape wouldn't work. You could stick it to a piece of velvet, then fold and glue a bit of velvet down on each edge of the conductive side, and that could separate it from the videotape.

Anyone have a suggestion for a particular brand/configuration of videotape that works well?
